A call has been made for people who want to express support for the African-American/Black, Latinx, Muslim, LGBTQ, and other marginalized communities experiencing high levels of fear during these uncertain times, to wear a safety pin to demonstrate that tartgeted commuities are “safe” in their presence. While this is a show of solidarity, is it enough?

This workshop will examine post-election backlash and the actions and reactions to race, gender, immigration, sovereignty and other issues causing a broad range of concerns and responses to what the Women of Color Network, Inc. (WOCN, Inc.) has defined as “#JaggedJustice.”

#JaggedJustice seeks to galvanize a collective voice in solidarity with those who have lost their lives, and with survivors of individual and collective acts of violence. Presenters will guide participants in connecting the dots between issues of oppression and the experiences of survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The concept of becoming an aspiring ally, options for providing victim support, and other strategies for resistance and change will be explored.
